MUSIC FOR THE SOUL…3/3/08
by SteveHere’s just a little bonus from the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the folks at YouTube. I found this today, and have listened to it repeatedly. It is the most moving, soul-stirring arrangement I’ve ever heard of “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing.” Enjoy…and be inspired!

A interesting little side: This hymn was published in several editions of the LDS Hymnbook over the years, up until 1985. In that most recent edition, it was one of the unfortunates that got “voted off”. This was due to the fact that it was not well known nor performed and so many other new familiar hymns were competing for space. Ironically, shortly thereafter Mack Wilberg wrote this stunning arrangement for the Choir. “Come Thou Fount” became an “overnight sensation” and has been beloved and performed regularly by the members ever since. When the next revision of the Church hymnbook comes around, I expect it will find it’s rightful place restored.
