QUESTIONS WORTH CONSIDERING…3/10/08

by Steve

There are  only two weeks of Lent left, and I was wondering how you are doing with the commitments you made at its beginning.  My sermon on the first Sunday of Lent challenged you to observe a holy Lent by doing the following:

Pray Regularly and Specifically; Fast; Give with an emphasis on the poor.

How are you doing with that?  Can you point to concrete examples that would prove that this Lenten season has been different from the weeks that preceded it?

And here’s one more question (my all-time favorite):  What if every church member were just like you?  To be more specific:

HOW MANY worship services would we have had this year if everyone had stayed at home when you did?  HOW MANY times would the Sunday School have met if they met only when you attended?  HOW MUCH Christian instruction would the children of our church receive if everyone showed as much interest in it as you do?  HOW MANY people would have been invited to worship or welcomed into the church if everyone invited as many as you do?  HOW MANY prayers would have been offered for your pastor, the church leadership, your neighbors, your church?  HOW MANY words of faith would have been shared with others?  HOW MUCH money would have been spent for missions if everyone gave the same percentage as you do?  What kind of church would this church be if every member were just like you?
