BLOGGING TOWARD SUNDAY…

A little girl went up to a famous actress in the lobby of a hotel, and said, “You’re an actress, aren’t you?”  When the actress smiled and nodded her head, the little girl kept on looking at her for a minute or two, and then said, “Well, why don’t you act?”  And that’s a good question for all of us as Christians, “Why don’t we act?”     
All the gifts of God are ours, not merely to do something for us or even in us, but to accomplish something through us.  You remember how Jesus treated his first disciples?  How surprising it was?  Scarcely had they committed their lives to Him when he sent them out, two by two, to ACT.  To put their faith to work.  That’s the only way we learn, the only way we learn to be Chris­tians.  It’s the only way we learn to be anything.  We have to act on it, put it to work, try it out! Jesus was always telling people, DO IT!  ACT ON IT!  PUT IT INTO PRACTICE!  How else can you learn spiritual law?  What other way is there of learning that prayer is real?  That God guides?  That faith works?  That it is more blessed to give than get?  It’s no use holding these ideas in your head, they won’t do any good up there.  It does no good to stand on the fringe and just look.The only way you can know the truth of a thing is to act on it!  Our churches are full of people who for years have been nodding their heads to great ideas, but few of them have ever experiment­ed with these ideas by incorporating them into their lives.  And they have missed the boat.  Act on it!  Do something, for God’s sake!
