MY SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS…1/13/09
by SteveFor several years now, I have greatly enjoyed teaching a Sunday School class every Sunday morning. This is not your typical SS class. It is a class where questions are encouraged and welcomed. It is a class which examines different points of view and encourages people to make their own decisions. It is a class where tough topics are dealt with and tough questions are not dodged.
In the past few years we have dealt with the inspiration and authority of the Bible, the character and message of Jesus, and what it really means to be a Christian, to name but a few. We just finished a six week study of the birth stories of Matthew and Luke, which left us with a deeper appreciation of what the writers were trying to communicate.
This coming Sunday I will be taking up a new topic…the problem of pain and suffering. We will examine how various biblical authors have dealt with the problem of why/how there can be so much pain in a world which we believe was created by a good, kind, and omnipotent God. The Bible does not speak with one voice about this subject. The biblical writers expressed a variety of opinions, all of which we will consider.
If you are not currently attending a SS class, please consider this one. It might well change your life.
