UNDERSTANDING SALVATION…5.14.09

by Steve

For the last two weeks in my Sunday School class, I’ve been teaching about salvation. One of the most interesting quotes I’ve found in my preparation comes from Brian McLaren, and I want to share it with you:

Is salvation for you a one-time experience? Or is it a lifelong journey? Is it about a rescue from your uncomfortable circumstances (as it was for the ancient Jews), or rescue from this world after death (as it is for many modern Christians) — or is it about being rescued from a life that is disconnected from God and God’s adventure, both in this life and the next? Is salvation about stepping across a line — or is it about crossing a starting line to begin an unending adventure in this life and beyond?

If these are questions with which you have struggled, I invite you to be a part of our discussion on Sunday mornings at 10 in the choir room. You’ll find good fellowship, good conversation, and deep thinking on topics that impact your everyday life. Come join us!
