LEANING OUR LADDERS…5.22.09
by SteveBrian McLaren tells of talking to a missionary who had just retired from a 30 year career in which he and his wife worked in a developing nation. The missionary was not satisfied with the results of those 30 years, even though he said that he had accomplished everything he set out to do: established more churches, started a seminary, Christian radio and tv, etc.
But, he said, the crime rate was sky high, enmities between tribes were escalating and getting out of hand, the countryside was a wreck, and the sex trade was booming. It was as if, according to the missionary himself, he had leaned his ladder against the wrong building.
If you find that intriguing, you’ll love Sunday’s sermon. Come hear it!
