WHAT WE DO WELL…5.27.09

by Steve

In our most recent Church Council meeting, we talked much about areas where we need improvement; areas like Children’s and Youth Ministry. Many of us at the meeting feel we are at the point where we need at least a part-time professional person to grow, lead, and inspire this area of need, and next week we will be looking more closely at that option. Please don’t hestitate to give us some input!

We also talked about all the things we do well here in Union Grove. To name but a few:

Our English-as-Second Language Ministry, operating 3 nights per week with 10-15 participants
Our GED Ministry, now bigger and more successful than ever, last week graduating 13!
Our Methodist Meals Ministry, delivering 50 or so hot meals out into the community every week
Our full Scouting program, including Cubs, Boy Scouts, Brownies, and Girl Scouts
Chicks-with-Sticks, our women’s ministry of making prayer shawls for shut-ins and the sick
Supper Club, a newly formed once-a-month night out to enjoy good food and fellowship
Bible study groups taught by the pastor, bringing our faith to bear on the hard topics of our times.

These are just a few, and we are working on adding to the list. Please be in prayer for us as we engage in the tough process of “rethinking church.” It will demand the best from all of us. Blessings….
