FAITH IN ACTION…10.8.09
by SteveYou are not likely to hear this story regarding Pan Am Flight 103 on the regular news outlets. It is a far cry from anything else I have heard or read.
Jim Swire’s daughter, Flora, was one of the passengers who died aboard the flight when it was blown up over Lockerbie, Scotland, by terrorists in 1988. But Swire has praised the Scottish government for releasing from prison the Libyan man known as the Lockerbie Bomber.
“I am a Christian,” said Swire. “So I would hope that, even if I was convinced that Megrahi was guilty, my Christian compassion and forgiveness would extend to wanting to see him die with his family around him in Libya.” Megrahi was returned to Libya because he has terminal prostate cancer.
Reminds me of something I heard somewhere a long time ago…”Everyone thinks forgiveness is a good idea until he/she has something to forgive.”
I know a few people who are excellent at forgiving and they are very happy people. On the other hand, I know a few holding grudges who are miserable. Forgiving can be difficult, but it takes much less of an emotional toll to do it!
much wisdom from one so young. So helpful to learn that lesson early!
